On the evening of August 28, Movable staff joined recovery organizations like Ryan's Hope, Recovery Point, Marshall Health, and others for the 2021 WV Overdose Awareness Day Tribute at the West Virginia State Capitol in Charleston. Around 200 people gathered to raise recovery awareness and commemorate those lost to overdoses in the state. The event featured speakers like Cece Brown (founder of Ryan's Hope), JoAnna Vance (Recovery Advocacy Project), and Kenneth Matthews (WV Collegiate Recovery Network), as well as an awards ceremony for the WV Rise Awards. The event concluded at 8pm with the "Can You See Me Now"-walk around the capitol, displaying banners with photos of loved ones who died to overdose.
