Movable: Narratives of Recovery and Place is an interactive community website that collects narratives on the topic of recovery from substance and alcohol use disorders in Appalachia and beyond.
Statistics on incarcerations, overdoses, and deaths are widespread and easy enough to understand. But what about the people behind those numbers? What about the stories that remain unheard? What if we consider the weight of our words? What if we change the narrative?
By definition, "movable" means "capable of being moved." Recovery is possible; we are capable. Empathy is possible; we are capable. Here is a place for us to share recovery journeys. Here is a place dedicated not only to the stories that move us but to allowing ourselves to be movable.
